BLACK PANTHER GROSSES £265 MILLION IN OPENING WEEK

Black Panther, Marvel’s 18th film in the ‘cinematic universe’, took £265 million in its opening week at the box office.

 

It is Marvel’s fifth largest film on opening week and the largest on US sales alone.

 

The superhero film is the first in Marvel’s cinematic universe to feature a black actor as the lead character. It received universal acclaim from critics, rated 97 percent “fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes with an 8.2 out of 10 average scores.

 

Marvel has not said if there will be a sequel to Black Panther, but the character is set to appear in Avengers: Infinity War. Kendrick Lamar, who provided vocals for the movie's soundtrack, said he would like to be the villain if there was a sequel.
